When some enthusiastic and innovative Austrian teachers supported by the Austrian Ministry of Education invited participating at the “International Spring School on the Didactics of Computer Algebra” in Krems, Lower Austria, in 1992 they really had not in mind founding a Conference Series.
But the 1st Krems Conference turned out to be a great success and seemed to fill a gap among the various Math Conferences held all over the world. At this Conference what we later called “The Spirit of Krems” was created. This spirit fed by enthusiasm for using technology in classroom assisted and led by serious didactical and methodological considerations and by personal appreciation and friendship among the participants could survive over the span of 20 years.
The conferences became larger and they spread world wide – but they preserved
their very special spirit and atmosphere. They gathered experts from all
continents and presented high quality keynotes, lectures and workshops. In the
beginning dedicated to only DERIVE the TIME Conferences became open for all
software tools and hand held calculators.
So, come to Estonia and celebrate 20 years conferences with us sharing your experience, collecting new ideas, meeting old friends and making new friends.
